Top 10 Political Moments This Decade (2010-2019)
Healthcare reform, a slow economic increase, and an enemy that refuses to go away dominate the first years of the decade as America struggles to find its footing from the economic collapse of 2008 and the international troubles of terrorism and the mideast.
As the American electorate in 2014 said “enough is enough” with politics as usual in Washington, serving Wall Street and not serving Main Street, on November 8, 2016 voters ushered in an outsider in NBC’s Apprentice television star Donald Trump as the 45th President of the United States.
Top 10 Political Moments This Decade (2010-2019)
This tsunami-seismic shift in American politics came shortly after Britain’s BREXIT Political Movement and the subsequent election of Conservative Party Leader Boris Johnson as U.K. Prime Minister, ousting Theresa May’s failed tenure as Prime Minister to implement the voters mandate of BREXIT.
Extraordinarily above all else, Donald Trump is the FIRST President of the United States to cross North Korea’s Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) for a high-risk SURPRISE 3rd meeting with North Korea’s Kim Jong-Un after Trump’s #G20Summit in Osaka, Japan.
Below are the top ten political moments this decade (2010-2019).

#1 Donald Trump Elected 45th President of the United States, Becomes Third Impeached President in U.S. History
November 28, 2016 – Donald Trump, the billionaire businessman from New York with no political or military experience, wins a surprising election over Democratic challenger and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, the first woman to run for the highest office from a major party.
Electoral victory by Republican Trump, 304 to 227, on November 8, 2016, with seven electors voting against their pledge, two not voting for Trump, five not voting for Clinton, contained victories in Rust Belt states Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.
June 16, 2015 – Billionaire businessman Donald Trump joins a crowded field of Republican candidates seeking the nomination for President in 2016 and almost immediately rises to the top of the polls on a populist message, surprising pundits and critics. Expected frontrunner on the Democratic side, Hillary Clinton, takes quick lead in the polls.
December 22, 2018 – Federal government shutdown for President Trump’s Border Wall lasts 35-days, the longest shutdown in U.S. History.
Partial government shutdown begins after President Trump refuses to sign any spending package for Homeland Security that does not include border barrier funding in appropriations due to the status of illegal immigration and border security.
December 22, 2017 – President Trump signs the largest tax cut and changes in the tax code since 1986 with the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, reducing rates and simplifying the tax code, and most of all, has really helped small businesses on Main Street USA and has uplifted consumers and small businesses confidences in the high-growth Trump economy.
June 1, 2017 – United States withdraws from the Paris Climate Agreement.
December 19, 2019 – “Delivering him one of the most high-profile bipartisan accomplishments of his presidency, a bipartisan majority in the House of Representatives has approved the United States Mexico Canada Agreement (USMCA) on Thursday, moving President Donald Trump’s signature trade deal one step closer to implementation.

The House voted 385 to 41 to approve the USMCA, an updated version of the North American Free Trade Agreement, or NAFTA. A total of 193 Democrats backed the bill, after Democratic leaders in the House succeeded in winning changes on labor, environment, enforcement, and pharmaceutical provisions. Those tweaks secured the backing of US labor, offering Democrats a pathway to supporting the agreement.” (via VOX).

December 18, 2019 – 45th President of the United States Donald J. Trump is the third impeached president in American history.

On Friday, December 20, 2019,  The U.S. House of Representatives left Washington in disagreement on how to transmit their Articles of Impeachment to the U.S. Senate. The White House signals their defense of the Abuse of Power charge, saying President Trump’s Ukraine call was a perfect call, and their defense of the Obstruction of Congress charge, saying President Trump will invoke Executive Powers  in implementing foreign policy of the United States under Article 2 of the U.S. Constitution.
#2 BREXIT and DEXIT, Democrat Exit
Following a June 2016 referendum, in which 51.9% voted to leave on June 23, 2016, the United Kingdom (U.K.) government formally announced the country’s withdrawal from the European Union (EU) in March 2017, starting a two-year process that was due to conclude with the U.K. withdrawing on March 29, 2019. As the U.K. parliament voted against or failed to ratify the negotiated withdrawal agreements, that deadline has been extended three times. The deadline is currently January 31, 2020.
The 2019 Conservative Party leadership election was triggered when Theresa May announced on May 24, 2019 that she would resign as Leader of the Conservative Party on June 7, 2019 and as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom once a successor had been elected.
Nominations opened on June 10, 2019, as 10 candidates were nominated. The first ballot of Members of Parliament (MPs) took place on June 13, 2019, with exhaustive ballots of MPs also taking place on June 18-20, 2019, reducing the candidates to two.
The general membership of the party elected the leader by postal ballot with the result announced on July 23, 2019, with Boris Johnson being elected U.K. Prime Minister with almost twice as many votes as his opponent Jeremy Hunt.
According to USA Today, “Britain’s Conservative Party and Prime Minister Boris Johnson secured a majority in Parliament on Friday, December 13, 2019 winning an election that pitted Johnson’s plan to “get Brexit done” against opposition parties who wanted to delay Britain’s departure from the European Union or even cancel it altogether. The victory makes Johnson the most electorally successful Conservative leader since Margaret Thatcher and is a disaster for left-wing Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn who was already facing calls for his resignation. The result likely paves the way for Johnson to push through Brexit on January 31, 2019 after three years of divisive and acrimonious debate by lawmakers over whether Britain should leave a bloc it joined more than four decades ago.” While results were still rolling in, the Conservatives had claimed 326 of 650 seats in the House of Commons and appeared headed to the party’s best election performance since 1987.

U.S. President Donald Trump took notice: “Looking like a big win for Boris in the U.K.!” Trump tweeted Thursday night, December 12, 2019.

2014 Election Was About Enough
#3 Midterm Elections of 2018, 2014, 2010
November 4, 2014 – Midterm elections see large increase in Republican lawmakers with expansion of their majority to 247 seats in the House of Representatives and the taking over the majority in the Senate with 54 seats. This will cause the Obama administration to deal with a Congress now controlled by the other party for the final two years of his term.
Congressional Shift Right is the Birth of ‘Practical Conservatism’, Giving Rise to The Age of Trump!
Rising support of ‘practical conservatism’ in America, signaled by the wide margin in the GOP Congressional victory Tuesday night, November 4, 2014, is a reaction of the American people to fiscally irresponsible actions of the federal government, misguided stimulus spending, bailouts and takeovers of private industry.
Practical conservatism is a blend of Republican and classical Libertarian ideals. But also, practical conservatism pulls in uneasy Democrats worried about the lack of full-time jobs available, the level of part-time jobs left (for 95 million folks out of work), the messy roll-out of healthcare reforms, the lack of financial options for sound borrowers under Dodd-Frank reforms, and the insecure attention forming a rational foreign policy for the nation.
Read more on Practical Conservatism inside here: 2014 Election Was About Enough
November 6, 2018 – Mid-term elections result in Democratic gains of forty seats in the U.S. House of Representatives and seven governors, but a drop in two seats in the U.S. Senate.
This has set up the conditions of DERANGED & TRIGGERED @SpeakerPelosi, who doesn’t have a case in her “completely baseless & reckless abuse of power” in rushing to impeach @POTUS @realDonaldTrump before Christmas 2019 to AVOID HIS 2020 LANDSLIDE REELECTION to the @WhiteHouse!
Only three presidents have been impeached – Andrew Johnson in 1868, Bill Clinton in 1998, and Donald Trump on December 18, 2019 – but neither was removed. Former President Richard Nixon resigned in 1974 after the Judiciary Committee approved articles of impeachment, but before a full House vote.
January 19, 2010 – Scott Brown, a Republican reformer from Massachusetts, stuns the nation with an upset win for the special election Senate seat.
He is the first Republican elected to the Senate from the state of Massachusetts since 1972, and the only Republican member of the Massachusetts Democratic congressional delegation. His election puts a halt to the 60-seat Democratic super-majority in the Senate and prevented President Obama and the Democratic leadership from pushing legislation in future votes past a Republican filibuster.
He was quickly unseated by 2020 Democratic presidential hopeful Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren.

#4 Donald Trump and “Rocket Man” Kim Jong-un Meet Face-2-Face, as Trump is First U.S. President to Walk Across DMZ Line
June 11, 2018 – Meetings between the United States President Donald Trump and North Korean Leader Kim Jong-un, becoming the first summit between leaders of the two nations, with discussions about North Korea giving up its ambitions for nuclear weapons, and thawing the iceberg of cold-war communication between the United States 🇺🇸 and North Korea 🇰🇵 spanning across 75 years.
February 11, 2017 – North Korea fires ballistic missile over the Sea of Japan, testing the resolve of the world in its attempt to develop a deliverable nuclear weapon. Throughout the year, North Korea continues its provocative tests, firing its first intercontinental ballistic missile, and other nuclear tests, prompting increased sanctions. This prompted U.S. President Donald Trump to publicly tag North Korean President Kim Jong-un as “Rocket Man.”
Top Ten Political Moments This Decade (2010-2019)
#5 Osama Bin Laden and Abū Bakr al-Baghdadi Killed by U.S. Military Forces
May 2, 2011 – Osama Bin Laden, mastermind of the 9/11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and other locations and leader of the terrorist group, Al-Qaeda, is killed after ten years of pursuit by United States and coalition forces during a ultra-clandestine Black Ops mission raid at 1:15am ordered by President Barack Obama called Operation Neptune Spear by two-dozen U.S. Navy Seal Team VI Black Ops, flying stealth Black Ops helicopters from an Afghanistan airbase, and landing onto Osama Bin-Laden’s well-guarded hideout compound location in Pakistan.
As the 38-minute raid began, one of the special Black Ops helicopters crashed landed and was partially destroyed. Upon climbing upon Osama Bin-Laden’s three-story personal compound, four U.S. Navy Seal Team VI Black Ops forces shot and killed the 9-11 Attacks terrorists mastermind immediately in seconds upon recognition, as Osama Bin-Laden reached for his weapon during a one-minute firefight!
Bin-Laden was quickly given a Muslim burial at sea, marking in a crucial finale to the largest terrorist attack on American soil in our nation’s history. The Death of Osama Bin-Laden marked President George W. Bush’s War on Terrorism’s greatest victory.
On Sunday, May 1, 2011 at 11:35pm President Obama addressed the nation from the White House. “The United States conducted an operation that killed Osama Bin-Laden, the leader of Al-Qaeda.”
Top 10 Political Moments This Decade (2010-2019)
Within hours conflicting details of the raid spread worldwide. For the next several days specific details of the raid changed multiple instances that have never been resolved from what President Obama had informed the nation. Specifically, why did Black Ops dispose of Osama Bin-Laden’s body in the sea so quickly after the raid – and by who’s orders in the National Command Chain – President Obama, his Defense Secretary, and the Joint Chiefs of Staff – was to kill Osama Bin-Laden rather than capture this high-value counterterrorism intelligence target for deeper questions as to how and why the 9-11 attacks occurred and what’s coming next?
To date nobody knows really what to happened Osama Bin-Laden’s body evidence or what happened in Operation Neptune Spear by two-dozen U.S. Navy Seal Team VI Black Ops, and nobody ever will.
For the steady continuation of ultra-clandestine Black Ops warfare for future U.S. presidencies in the 21st Century.
“Loose Lips Sink Ships” and Black Ops forces and U.S. Presidents and U.S. Secretaries and Joint Chiefs get this – for secrecy is crucial to success in war and survival in peace.
Top Ten Political Moments This Decade (2010-2019)
In the Osama Bin-Laden raid’s aftermath, the Black Ops success served to lift President Obama’s own political standings for his upcoming 2012 reelection bid.
By way of some background ….
(SEALS are sea, air, and land brain surgeons of shootings and use of edge-weaponry for knifings or killings by hand combat. This elite force, known as Elite Seal Team VI Black Ops Unconventional Covert Tier-One Missions and Actions, comprises 60,000 extraordinary individuals).
Top Ten Political Moments This Decade (2010-2019)
President John Kennedy in 1962 created his $100 million dollar Black Ops Force for paramilitary operations and presidential sub-limited covert unconventional warfare missions to operate outside the CIA in the aftermath and his response to The Bay of Pigs Cuban invasion and its duplicitous debacle in CIA dependency and accountability during his early administration. JFK had the foresight that future warfare of the 21st century nowadays are low-intensity conflicts of increasing frequency, wherein Black Ops spring in fast and complete their strike missions successfully when called upon by the Commander-in-Chief from the White House.
April 24, 1980 – President Jimmy Carter ordered his ultra-clandestine Black Ops mission called Operation Eagle Claw in his attempted rescue of 52 hostages inside the U.S. Embassy in Iran for nearly six months!
Eagle Claw was doomed by an unexpected sandstorm clogging the helicopter engines, killing eight servicemen – this marked the END OF EAGLE CLAW MISSION and Jimmy Carter’s presidency. In the aftermath the entire Black Ops Forces was reorganized substantially from the lessons learned from the failed rescue mission, which have led to subsequent superior successes.
Shortly after President Carter’s Eagle Claw debacle, the U.S. Department of Defense commissioned a top-secret Tier-One high-risk surgical-precision low-time duration counterterrorism unit called Navy Seal Team VI – Joint Special Operations Command, founded by Vietnam Veteran Retired Commander Richard Marcinko.
Top Ten Political Moments This Decade (2010-2019)
Black Operators are volunteer military servicemen and servicewomen undergoing an extremely rigorous selection process.
Active duty personnel comprise nearly 1.4 million total. This is 0.001% of the U.S. population of well-over 338,693,855 people, as per the 2010 U.S. Census, whereupon well-above a 10% increase above this population total is expected by the 2020 U.S. Census. Seal Teams comprise about only 1200 door-killers, shooters, and operators. These extraordinarily superior servicemen and servicewomen are only 0.0005% of the nation! They are extremely intelligent, physically fit, and mentally tough world-class athletes, separating them from any other persons across the globe.
So, the audition attrition rate from this elite class of the military is 85 percent – only 15 percent (less than 1 in 4) are accepted. The motto of rigorous life-threatening “Hell-Week” training of Basic Underwater Demolition SEAL (BUDS) Training is “the more BUDS sweats in peace, the less BUDS bleeds in war” in executions of demolitions, skydivings, divings, shootings, bombings, hostage acquisitions and rescues. These executions in “Closed Quarters Battles (CQBs)” and “24-7 Kill House Battle Runs” of unconventional land, sea, air warfare require 6-10 months of additional high-intensity life-threatening warfare training upon passing through to the Elite 15% BUDS “Hell-Week” qualification! Fundamentally, Black Ops in service to America as elite warriors in a very dangerous modern world is life-threatening hazardous work, as most Black Ops military personnel don’t live beyond their thirties in age.

“Live Fast, Die Young, and Leave a Good-Looking Corpse!” Motto of U.S. Navy Seal Team VI – Joint Special Operations Command Black Ops
Notwithstanding the political decentralized legacy in history of The Pentagon, whose 16-month construction began September 11, 1941 – sixty-years before the 9-11 terror attacks, and three months before Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbor December 7, 1941, the modern centralized U.S. Department of Defense counterterrorism unit, Navy Seal Team VI – Joint Special Operations Command Black Ops forces, annually “black” budget-appropriated to DOD and CIA with billions of dollars in closed-door secret sessions of the House and Senate Intelligence Committees, is the unconventional convert warfare mission President Donald Trump implemented on October 27, 2019 in killing Abū Bakr al-Baghdadi al-Qurayshi.
Emanating from President Trump’s and President Barack Obama’s National Commander-in-Chief authority under Article 2 of the U.S. Constitution in execution of his Black Ops mission to kill Osama Bin-Laden (Obama) and to kill al-Baghdadi (Trump), was absolutely only their respective Department of Defense Secretaries managed by their respective Joint Chiefs of Staff. This short line of absolute authority allows direct lines for funding, intelligence, and action immediately. Black Ops is the essential core fundamentals of the United States national security intelligentsia and advanced military science and technology development under President Truman’s National Security Act of 1947 – which authorizes plausible deniability at the highest government levels (knowingly and/or unknowingly, competence and/or incompetence) of all ultra-clandestine Black Ops missions.
Information is power in the intelligence community and the cyber-command systems inside The Pentagon. Secrecy is the most powerful information in the counter-intelligence community and counterterrorism warfare.

Abū Bakr al-Baghdadi al-Qurayshi (July 28, 1971 – 27 October 27, 2019) was the Iraqi-born leader of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL). The group has been designated as a terrorist organization by the United Nations and the European Union, while Baghdadi was considered a Specially Designated Global Terrorist by the U.S. until his death in October 27, 2019.
From 2011, a reward of US$10 million was offered for Baghdadi by the U.S. State Department, increasing to $25 million in 2017, for information or intelligence on his whereabouts to enable capture, dead or alive.
On October 27, 2019, he killed himself by detonating a suicide vest during the Barisha raid, conducted by the U.S. 75th Ranger Regiment and the U.S. Delta Force, in Syria’s northwestern Idlib Province, according to a statement by U.S. President Donald Trump. The commander of the United States Central Command, General Kenneth F. McKenzie Jr., stated that al-Baghdadi also killed two children when he exploded his vest and was buried at sea after being offered Islamic funeral rites.
On October 31, 2019, ISIL confirmed that Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was dead, and named Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurashi, about whom little is known, as his replacement.

Conan, a 2019 heroic dog of the year who helped capture ISIS boss (via Fox News)

“Conan, a young Belgian Malinois named after talk show host Conan O’Brien, was credited with helping take down Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi in October.

The military working dog was injured during the Middle East mission after being exposed to live electrical wires while pursuing Baghdadi through a tunnel underneath a compound in northwestern Syria, officials said.

Following the raid, Conan was commended by President Trump for his heroic actions, describing the pooch as “incredible,” brilliant,” “smart” and the “ultimate fighter” during a visit to the White House in November.

President Trump called Conan, pictured here at the White House on Nov. 25, an "incredible" dog after he helped take down ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

According to U.S. Central Command, Conan has worked with special operations for four years and has taken part in roughly 50 missions.

While it was eventually confirmed Conan is of the male gender, there was, however, some confusion over whether he was a very good boy or a very good girl.”

#6 Radical Islamic Global Terrorism
June 12, 2016 – Terrorist attack in Orlando, Florida, with fifty killed and fifty-three wounded, continues ISIS and Radical Islamic terrorist inspired attacks throughout the world, including major attacks in Ankara, Instanbul, Brussels, and Nice.
Read more inside here:

December 2, 2015 – Islamic Terrorist inspired act in San Bernadino, California kills fourteen and follows a brutal attack against citizens in Paris in November. These attacks and others are fueled by the continual rise of ISIS in Syria, Iraq, and other countries around the world.
April 15, 2013 – Two bombs explode near the finish line of the Boston Marathon, killing three and injuring hundreds in a terrorism attack coordinated by two brothers associated with radical Islam.

September 11, 2012 – On the 11th anniversary of Osama Bin-Laden’s Terror Attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and rural Pennsylvania on September 11, 2001 at 9:37am, terrorists attacked a consulate in the Libyan city of Benghazi kills four Americans, including Ambassador John C. Stevens, showing the continued fight against Islamic extremism had not abated after the Arab Spring uprisings in the Middle East and deposing of dictators such as Muammar Gaddafi.
#7 The 50th Anniversary of MLK’s “I Have a Dream” Speech at the Lincoln Memorial and JFK’s Assassination
August 28, 2013 – One hundred thousand visitors throng to the Lincoln Memorial and the National Mall in Washington, D.C. for the 50th anniversary commemoration ceremony of Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech.
Speakers at the anniversary include two former U.S. presidents Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, and then-President Barack Obama, the first African American to hold the office. Nearly 250,000 people came to the original speech on August 28, 1963.
November 22, 1963 – (via Wikipedia) “John Fitzgerald Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States, was assassinated on November 22, 1963, at 12:30 p.m. Central Standard Time in Dallas, Texas, while riding in a presidential motorcade through Dealey Plaza. Kennedy was riding with his wife Jacqueline, Texas Governor John Connally, and Connally’s wife Nellie when he was fatally shot by former U.S. Marine Lee Harvey Oswald firing in ambush from a nearby building. Governor Connally was seriously wounded in the attack. The motorcade rushed to Parkland Memorial Hospital where President Kennedy was pronounced dead about 30 minutes after the shooting; Connally recovered.

Oswald was arrested by the Dallas Police Department 70 minutes after the initial shooting. Oswald was charged under Texas state law with the murder of Kennedy, as well as that of Dallas policeman J. D. Tippit, who had been fatally shot a short time after the assassination. At 11:21 a.m. November 24, 1963, as live television cameras were covering his transfer from the city jail to the county jail, Oswald was fatally shot in the basement of Dallas Police Headquarters by Dallas nightclub operator Jack Ruby. Oswald was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital where he soon died. Ruby was convicted of Oswald’s murder, though it was later overturned on appeal, and Ruby died in prison in 1967 while awaiting a new trial.

After a 10-month investigation, the Warren Commission concluded that Oswald assassinated Kennedy, that Oswald had acted entirely alone, and that Ruby had acted alone in killing Oswald. Kennedy was the eighth and most recent US President to die in office, and the fourth (following Lincoln, Garfield, and McKinley) to be assassinated. Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson automatically assumed the Presidency upon Kennedy’s death.”

Oslo, Norway, October 14, 1964 – The Nobel Peace Prize for 1964 was awarded to the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The 35-year-old civil rights leader was the youngest winner of the prize that Dr. Alfred Nobel instituted since the first was awarded in 1901. Below is MLK’s acceptance speech.
#8 Re-election of Barack Obama as 44th President of the United States
November 6, 2012 – President Barack Obama wins a significant victory, 332 electoral votes to 206, for his second term in office against Republican challenger and businessman Mitt Romney. Congress remained status quo with divided government as the House of Representatives remained in Republican hands and the Senate in Democratic hands.
January 1, 2014 – Obamacare, the Affordable Care Act, goes into affect for millions of Americans, the largest expansion of the social welfare state in decades.
Over 7.3 million join the system, some due to cancellations of existing healthcare policies; others due to subsidies provided by the government. Premiums for policies see large increases due to expansion.
March 25, 2010 – The U.S. House of Representatives finalizes the Health Care legislation approved by the Senate, extending health benefits and insurance to most Americans. The legislation, the Affordable Care Act, passed on a partisan basis by the Democratic Majority, has caused a significant rift within the public, who disapproved of the bill, and is expected to test the Democratic Party’s hold on both houses of Congress during the mid-term elections in November.
September 17, 2011 – The first of many Occupy Wall Street protests begin in New York City, protesting the big money interests on Wall Street and their relationship to the recession and world economy.
Former FBI Director James Comey, Former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, and Former CIA Director James Clapper told President Barack Obama about FBI Probes and FISA Warrants for FISA Secret Court with Steele Dossiers to Spy on Carter Page of the Donald Trump 2016 Campaign bought and paid for by 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton (held back from the FISA Court), says Justice Department IG Report of Michael Horowitz released December 9, 2019.
Connecticut U.S. Attorney John Durham releases unprecedented statement contradicting “some of the DOJ IG Report conclusions as to predication and how the FBI case was open.” (See 476-Page Michael Horowitz IG Report Synopsis of 17 FBI Violations in Appendix A, confirmation of a genuine coup attempt on Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign and current presidency).
Justice Department AG William Barr says to the Wall Street Journal and NBC News on December 10, 2019, America has been “turned on its head based on a bogus narrative” of the Deep State and Media. The outcomes of Connecticut US. Attorney John Durham “will be the last word on the matter” that will shake-up the political establishment in Washington, New York, London, Brussels and The Hague. In U.S. history, this is the first explicit use of the U.S. counterintelligence system to illegally alter a U.S. presidential campaign and election in 2016.
Just be patient as the shoe is about to drop in late Spring 2020 or early Summer 2020, says Justice Department AG William Barr, as our nation was subjected to gross abuses by FISA, FBI law enforcement, and U.S. counterintelligence system. They’re taking on all the Global Deep State that seek to stop Donald Trump, America First, Brexit, Boris Johnson, NATO-UN Reforms, Immigration Reforms, Border Security, and Global Economic Growth to protect stressed nation-state incomes.
Nonetheless, as a side-note of background, since the 9-11 attacks, Business Week has consistently ranked the FBI as one of the top most desirable places to work by young college students wanting career advancement and development, just ahead of Apple and right behind Google and Walt Disney – largely because college students see wide exposures to the foreign languages, latest computers, cyber technology and cybercrime and modern advances in science and technology. The FBI’s fastest growing component is its cyber technology branch including its secret digital DNA forensics evidence-gathering laboratories. The agency’s biggest need is not only nuclear, biological and chemical (NBC) weapons of mass destruction mitigation, but also stoppage of cyber hackers and terrorists from destroying America’s social, technological, education, economic and political (STEEP) critical infrastructures, including a city’s electrical power grids causing rolling blackouts, a region’s water supply systems, the FAA’s air traffic control systems on the eastern seaboard, or an interference of the military’s global positioning systems to guide military aircraft, with the doomsday push of a virtual Trojan Horse spyware button on a computer keyboard or a smart mobile device keypad.
Passing national security, criminal investigation, constitutional law, interrogation techniques, physical fitness, firearms training or Hogan’s Alley – the most violent town in America with a hotel, a pool hall, and a bank, altogether filled with actors skilled at committing misdemeanors and felonious acts – at the FBI Academy’s Quantico, Virginia Training Center, is more competitive to achieve than getting into Harvard University.
#9 Politics of Natural & Man-Made Disasters
August 25, 2017 – A historic triple-hit of the politics of natural disasters in Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria hits a young Trump Administration.
Disastrous hurricane season in the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean, and Atlantic seaboard begins on August 25, 2017 with Hurricane Harvey hitting the Houston area, causing $125 billion in damage. It was followed on September 6, 2017 with Hurricane Irma, the strongest Atlantic hurricane in history striking Florida, and on September 19, 2017 Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico. Those two hurricanes cause over $150 billion in additional damages.
Top Ten Political Moments This Decade (2010-2019)
October 29, 2012 – Hurricane Sandy, taking an unusual track up the East Coast and coming to landfall on the New Jersey coast near Atlantic City and Long Island coasts of New York creates significant damage to coastal towns as well as the boroughs of Manhattan and Staten Island, to the estimated cost of $65.6 billion. The hurricane, at its peak a Category 2 storm, was the largest storm in recorded history by diameter at 1,100 miles. Hurricane Sandy also impacted the upcoming presidential election race between Barack Obama’s re-election and GOP challenger Mitt Romney. Hurricane Sandy substantially rocketing Obama’s reelection days later, many believe New Jersey GOP Governor Chris Christie’s tarmac hug with Barack Obama torpedoed his political career in the wake of the politics of natural disasters of Hurricane Sandy.

Give Thanks to Mrs. Hale and Our Presidents for Proclaiming Thanksgiving Day

Ever wonder which executives of the United States and of the several states we can give special thanks to for Thanksgiving Day?

Thanksgiving Day is annually observed in the United States with religious services in churches to give thanks to God for the blessings of the year. Especially since its institution in New England, where the custom of a day of reverence for giving thanks originated, as a celebration of family reunion, Thanksgiving Day reminds us all of charitable memories of “going back home to the old farmhouse kitchen, and the pantry crowded with good things to eat,” according to the 1911 classic edition of the Encyclopedia Britannica, the oldest in the English-speaking world.

Partaking in giving thanks, originally, was a harvest thanksgiving, a festival sort-of-speak in the late autumn, after the crops have been gathered, as an outgrowth of the very ancient harvest-time family reunion celebrations of old England.

First Thanksgiving in the New World

Plymouth Colony’s first winter in 1621, was so severely marked with danger that it killed nearly half of the Pilgrimage in residence. As the winter turned into spring planting and summer growing of crops, the corn was gathered in the fall of 1621. Governor Bradford decreed a day of giving thanks, essentially establishing the first Thanksgiving in the New World here in North America.

The great feast was prepared by a few women in the colony, who spent days boiling and baking and roasting, as children turned the roasts on the spits over open fires. Guests included scores of native Americans, who brought their own share of wild turkeys and vegetables to the great feast tables made out of wooden cabin doors. As pilgrims and native Americans sat down at the tables, prayers and sermons and songs of praise began three days of a Thanksgiving festival in the fall of 1621.

Going forward,”the Pilgrims set apart a day for thanksgiving at Plymouth immediately after their first harvest, in 1621; the Massachusetts Bay Colony for the first time celebrated a day of giving thanks in 1630, and frequently thereafter until about 1860, when it became an annual festival in the [Massachusetts Bay Colony],” according to the classic Encyclopedia Britannica.

From Plymouth the custom of giving thanks in the late fall quickly spread to the other colonies, eventually leading to the governors of each of the colonies proclaiming an annual day of giving thanks. For instance, Thanksgiving was first observed in Connecticut, as early as 1639 and annually in the state after 1647, except in 1675. The Dutch in New Netherland appointed a day for giving thanks in 1644 and occasionally thereafter.

During the Revolutionary War, “eight special days of giving thanks were observed after signal victories or wonderful deliverances from danger,” according to the classic 1917 edition of The World Book Encyclopedia.

The United States Continental Congress appointed one or more thanksgiving days of the year, except in 1777, each time recommending to the governors of the several states that they proclaim observances of days for giving thanks, according to the classic Encyclopedia Britannica.

President George Washington issued a general proclamation and appointed a day of thanksgiving on Thursday, November 26, 1789, and appointed another day of giving thanks in November 1795.

The Protestant Episcopal Church in America announced the first Thursday in November 1789 as a regular annual day for giving thanks, “unless another day be appointed by the civil authorities,” according to the classic World Book Encyclopedia. Later, the Roman Catholic Church formally recognized Thanksgiving Day in 1888.

President James Madison, in response to resolutions of Congress, established a day of thanksgiving at the close of the War of 1812.

A day of thanksgiving was annually appointed by the governor of New York from 1817.

In the several states of the south, there was fierce opposition to establishing a day for giving thanks, because it was then-believed to be propaganda of Puritanic bigotry.

Mrs. Sarah Josepha Buell Hale, “Mother of Thanksgiving

One woman, Mrs. Sarah Josepha Buell Hale (born in Newport, New Hampshire on October 24, 1788, and died on April 30, 1879), was the editor of her journal Godey’s Lady’s Book (1844).

She led a twenty year campaign in her journal and actually wrote letters to each of the serving Presidents inside the White House during these twenty years to urge them to officially issue a federal proclamation for a day of giving thanks in the United States.

“Mrs. Hale’s advocacy for the national holiday began in 1846 and lasted 17 years before it was successful,” according to Wikipedia. “In support of the proposed national holiday, Hale wrote letters to five Presidents of the United StatesZachary Taylor, Millard Fillmore, Franklin Pierce, James Buchanan, and Abraham Lincoln.”

Be that as it may, by 1858, Mrs. Hale efforts began to bear fruit, as governors of 25 states and two territories each eventually proclaimed annually an official day of thanksgiving.

Her initial letters failed to persuade, but her September 28, 1863 letter she wrote in Philadelphia to Lincoln convinced him to support legislation establishing a national holiday of Thanksgiving in 1863.

The following is an excerpt of Mrs. Hale’s Letter (pictured above) to President Lincoln:

“Private, Philadelphia, September 28, 1863

Honorable Abraham Lincoln – President of the United States

Permit me, as editress of “Lady’s Book,” to request a few minutes of your precious time, while laying before you a subject of deep interest to myself and as I trust even to the President of our Republic of some importance. The subject is to have a day of our autumn – a Thanksgiving – made a national and fixed Union Festival.

You may have observed that for some years past, there has been an increasing interest felt in our land to have the Thanksgiving held on the same day in all the States. It now needs National recognition and authoritative fixation, only to become permanently an American custom and institution.

Enclosed are three proposals being printed, these are easily read, which make the idea and its program clear, and show also the popularity of the plan.

For the last fifteen years, I have set forth this idea in the “Lady’s Book” and placed the proposals before the Governors of all the States and Territories. Also, I have sent these [proposals] to our Ministers abroad … and commanders in the Army. From the recipients I have received uniformly the most kind approvals …”

Finally, Mrs. Hale’s official Thanksgiving Holiday campaign saw daylight during the Civil War of the States, “in 1863, a year filled with pivotal historical events – the Emancipation Proclamation, the Union Army victories at Gettysburg and Vicksburg, and the Gettysburg Address – President Abraham Lincoln issued what has become known as the first Thanksgiving Proclamation.”

President Abraham Lincoln 151 years ago established the fourth Thursday of November 1864 and annually thereafter for an observance of Thanksgiving Day by federal proclamation of the president and of the governors of the several states of the union.

Upon President Lincoln’s proclamation, it was thus Mrs. Sarah Josepha Buell Hale who is now known as our “Mother of Thanksgiving.”

On the Annual Tradition of Presidential Pardoning of “Tom Turkey”

Since then, every president has held to President Lincoln’s tradition of proclaiming this day of giving thanks for the blessing bestowed upon of our nation. The Presidents annually make a formal announcement, and the governors of the several states issue proclamations recognizing the legislative act, calling on the people to give thanks.

“It is often stated that President Lincoln’s 1863 clemency to a turkey recorded in an 1865 dispatch by White House reporter Noah Brooks was the origin for the pardoning ceremony.” By annually pardoning “Tom Turkey” during an official White House event, since December 1948, “President Harry S. Truman accepted two turkeys and remarked that they would “come in handy” for Christmas dinner. There was clearly no plan for these birds to receive a presidential pardon, [because the chosen birds ended up served on the table at the official Thanksgiving Day Feast at The White House].

The Washington Post used both “pardon” and “reprieve” in a 1963 article in which President John F. Kennedy said [on November 19, 1963 during his final pardoning ceremony below just a few days before his assassination] of the turkey, “Let’s keep him going,” according to The White House Historical Association

Afterwards, President Kennedy requested the turkey he “pardoned” and “reprieved” returned back to the farm to live out the rest of the bird’s life.

“It wasn’t until 1987 that President Ronald Reagan introduced the idea of “pardoning” a bird for the first time. President George H. W. Bush would cement the tradition in 1989, and every year since then, turkeys presented to the president have been allowed to live out their natural lives,” according to the National Journal, which displays official photos of each presidential pardon of “Tom Turkey” from Truman to Trump.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!

“For all that God in mercy sends, For health and strength, For home and friends, For comfort in the time of need, For every kindly word and deed, For happy thoughts and pleasant talk, For guidance in our daily walk, For all these things,

Give Thanks.

“For beauty in this world of ours, For verdant grass and lovely flowers, For song of birds, For hum of bees, For the refreshing summer breeze, For hill and plain, For streams and wood, For the great ocean’s mighty flood, For all these things,

Give Thanks.

“For the sweet sleep that comes with night, For the returning morning’s light, For the bright sun which shines on high, For stars that glitter in the sky, For these and everything we see,

“O’ Lord, our hearts we lift to thee.

“And Give Thee Hearty Thanks.”

– Ellen Isabella Tupper (1930)

And Please Stay Safe in Your Travels!

Thanksgiving Holiday Travel 2015 By The Numbers [cf. AAA Travel Forecast]

Give Thanks to Mrs. Hale and Our Presidents for Proclaiming Thanksgiving Day

According to AAA, 46.9 million travelers will primarily take to the highways (with 89.3 percent traveling 50 miles or more), or secondarily to the air (with 7.7 percent traveling via commercial domestic airlines) to be with their friends and loved ones for Thanksgivings 2015.

This 46.9 million total travelers in 2015 amounts to a 300,000 increase over the 46.6 million travelers observed for Thanksgiving 2014.

Since the slightly higher 47.6 million travelers seen in 2006, the annual fall holiday travel peaked at 50.6 million people in Thanksgiving 2007, before a huge drop to 37.8 million people traveling for Thanksgiving 2008 and 37.9 million people transporting for Thanksgiving 2009.

These sudden drops in Thanksgiving holiday travel was a result of the deep economic crunch on consumers from the Wall Street financial crisis and recession of 2007-2009. The slow economic recovery back from this rough economic period for Thanksgiving 2015 is clearly shown by consumers having more disposable cash-on-hand for taking to the highways and airways for Thanksgivings 2010 (at 40.9 million travelers), 2011 (at 43.3 million travelers), 2012 (at 44 million travelers), and 2013 (at 44.4 million travelers).
